Economic Development Specialist
Imagine Chaleur is the economic development brand of the Chaleur Regional Service Commission (RSC Chaleur). Its mandate is to support regional economic growth, enhance the attractiveness of the territory, and encourage business establishment, expansion, and retention throughout the Chaleur region. Imagine Chaleur serves as a central information centre for entrepreneurs, investors, institutional partners, organizations, by facilitating access to resources and fostering collaborative, high-impact regional initiatives.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Economic Development, the Economic Development Specialist plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of regional economic development initiatives. The position supports investment attraction, business development, and collaboration among regional economic stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of regional economic development strategies;
- Coordinate action plans stemming from the strategic plan;
- Organize and facilitate sectoral meetings, working groups, and economic development committees;
- Develop and maintain databases and informational tools (businesses, available land and buildings, industrial parks, etc.);
- Conduct ongoing strategic monitoring of programs, support services, and economic trends;
- Provide front-line support and referrals to entrepreneurs, investors, and developers;
- Foster partnerships among economic, municipal, community, and government stakeholders;
- Analyze business community needs, challenges, and opportunities and provide recommendations to management;
- Participate in investment attraction initiatives, including foreign direct investment;
- Manage and update Imagine Chaleur’s website and social media platforms;
- Represent Imagine Chaleur with partners, elected officials, and government agencies;
- Perform other related duties as assigned by senior management.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in economic development or a related field;
- Knowledge of the Chaleur region (asset);
- Knowledge of municipal and regional issues (asset);
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English, spoken and written;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems;
- Strong understanding of recognized economic development practices and strategies.

Working Conditions
- Salary: according to the current salary scale;
- Work schedule: 6-month contract (renewable, with possibility of permanence), 35 hours per week (occasional evening availability required);
