Bulky waste includes large or heavy items that cannot be placed in residential waste bins due to their size or weight. Examples include furniture, carpets, sinks, doors, or certain broken household items. These materials can be brought to the Red Pine solid waste management site, subject to a fee based on the current rate.
Before disposing of them, residents are encouraged to:
- check if a family member, friend, or acquaintance can use them;
- donate them to a community organization if they are in good condition;
- contact a scrap metal dealer for metal items.
If no one wants the item, disposal services vary depending on the locality:
Bathurst
Residents of the City of Bathurst can obtain one free tipping fee exemption per address per year at City Hall. This exemption allows for a one-time disposal of up to 500 kg of waste at the landfill site in Allardville at no cost. Belle-Baie, Belledune and the Chaleur Rural District
Residents of these areas can bring bulky waste directly to the Allardville landfill or refer to the 2026 bulky waste collection dates for the Chaleur region:
- Allardville: June 2, October 20
- Bathurst: May 19 to May 22 – $50 + HST, payable at Bathurst City Hall
- Belledune: May 11 to May 15
- Beresford (zone 1): April 22, October 7
- Beresford (zone 2): April 23, October 8

- Big River to Goodwin Mill: June 9, October 13

Accepted Bulky Waste at Curbside
Household appliances, furniture, mattresses, wood, branches, and brush are accepted during bulky waste collections. Except for large items, waste must be placed in boxes, trash bags, or tied into bundles not exceeding 50 pounds and/or 4 feet in length. Broken glass and sharp objects (pointed, cutting) must be carefully packaged to avoid injury.
Non-Accepted Bulky Waste at Curbside
Construction debris, large trees, cars, snowmobiles, rocks, gravel, sand, manure, animal carcasses, gasoline tanks, propane cylinders, tires, and hazardous waste are not accepted during bulky waste collections.
