The Chaleur Regional Service Commission accepts old metals free of charge at the Red Pine Waste Management Facility. Residents can dispose of appliances, barbecues, car rims, lawn mowers, or any other metal objects. Before these metals are sold for recycling, refrigerant gases are safely removed from air conditioning and refrigeration units for proper recycling. From time to time, the metals are sold to the highest bidder through a tendering process. The revenue generated is used to fund our waste diversion initiatives.
Residents may also choose to bring their scrap metal to local scrapyards in the region, which may offer payment for certain items.
