- Only asbestos waste originating from areas served by the Chaleur Regional Service Commission will be accepted.
- Asbestos waste will be accepted by appointment only by calling 725-2402.
- Friable asbestos waste must be moistened and placed either in two securely tied 6-mil polyethylene bags, or in a single 6-mil polyethylene bag that is securely tied and placed in a cardboard box with all seams tightly sealed.
- Each bag or cardboard box must be clearly labeled with “WASTE ASBESTOS UN2590” or “DÉCHETS D’AMIANTE UN2590”.
- Anyone handling friable asbestos waste must wear appropriate respiratory protection and protective clothing during unloading.
- Unloading is the responsibility of the driver and/or their assistant. Site staff will supervise the unloading of the material for burial.
- A record of the volume, origin of the load, name of the contractor delivering to the site, and name of the contractor sending the asbestos waste must be provided to the site staff before unloading.
- The disposal fee for friable asbestos is $70.00 per cubic meter.
- Minimum charge per load is $500.00.
- Fees may be revised annually.
