Economic Development Specialist

 

The Chaleur Regional Service Commission is seeking a person to fill the position of “Economic Development Specialist” to support regional growth and increase the attractiveness of the territory. The person will act as a central point of contact for entrepreneurs, investors, institutional partners, organizations, governments, and newcomers by facilitating access to resources and stimulating structured initiatives for the region. The person will play a strategic role in attracting investments and supporting regional partners and operators.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the development and updating of strategic directions in economic development;
  • Plan and coordinate the implementation of actions arising from the strategic plan through an action plan;
  • Organize and facilitate sector meetings, roundtables, and committees related to economic development;
  • Develop and maintain databases and information tools businesses, land, buildings, industrial parks, etc.;
  • Monitor programs, support resources, and economic trends closely;
  • Provide support services to entrepreneurs, investors, and promoters;
  • Understand the ecosystem related to employers’ needs:
    • Participate in implementing strategic initiatives aimed at improving the prosperity of the citizens of the Chaleur region, including those related to job creation as well as workforce recruitment and development;
    • Play a leadership role with the Labour Market Partnership – Chaleur Region and in implementing the strategic plan related to workforce retention and recruitment.
  • Promote partnerships among economic, municipal, government, and community stakeholders;
  • Analyze business issues, challenges, and opportunities in order to make recommendations to management;
  • Actively participate in attraction and investment initiatives;
  • Ensure sound management of assigned budgets and submit excellent progress reports;
  • Ensure consistent updates on communication platforms website and social media;
  • Represent and maintain a positive brand image with partners, elected officials, and government bodies under the Imaging Chaleur banner and personally;
  • Perform any other related duties assigned by the Executive Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Minimum of three 3 years of experience in a field related to economic or regional development;
  • Experience managing employees and team’s asset;
  • Good knowledge of the Chaleur region asset;
  • Knowledge of municipal and regional issues asset;
  • Excellent proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Proficiency with computer tools Windows, Microsoft Office suite;
  • Good understanding of recognized economic development practices and strategies.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Salary according to the current salary scale: $81,926 to $97,450;
  • Schedule: 35 hours per week - occasionally, the person will be required to work evenings and weekends;
  • The person must have their own vehicle and a valid driver’s licence;
  • The person must be available to travel outside the Chaleur region occasionally;
